Consider the type of instrument

The types of instruments that an individual can acquire depend entirely on various factors like affordability, place to store them and your own production goal. Regardless of the genre the first equipment you may want to acquire is the recording or mixing equipment. Starting simple is the key to success. Check out the prices offered by the vendors and ensure that the equipment are in good condition before buying them if you decide on the second hand route. The other important equipment is of  course the instruments. For beginners, if you can't play a guitar the best thing to purchase would be a keyboard which is fairly easy to learn. Once you have acquired all the necessary beginners equipment you can now proceed to making beats.

Planning the beat

You need to plan for the beat you are going to produce. You need to reconsider again and again the type of the song that you wish to produce. It is important to ask yourself if the song will be slow and melodic or up tempo. Sometimes you can't let a genre dictate you, instead let your creativity guide you. The most important part of song production is coming up with the sounds that you want people to hear or feel.

Writing the song

The most powerful part of the song are the words used to create it, they deliver the type of message that you want your audience to hear. The words need to of course make send and they need to follow a certain rhythm according to your song. If you completely lack the ideas, listen to your favorite music it might lead you to good ideas for your beat.

Tempo

This is what sets the intended mood of the song. In fact, it can be considered as the most important part in recording the song. The keyboard is an important assert in trying to get the tempo for your song.  Some of the sophisticated keyboards like Yamaha have got rhythms that can be change in a number of ways.  It is important that you figure out a tempo that will suit you best for better result.  Record this tempo for a few minute so that you can use it later.

Recording the beat

This is the most exciting part of the process and where you record your final product. Once you have the necessary equipments, the words and the right tempo you can now start recording. This is not an easy task because it involves a lot of use of different technology and commitment. Don't be discouraged if you have to constantly record your songs because that is where half the fun is! Remember making beats is not all about the end result, the entire process is very important too.
